Who are we? Well, until November 2021 when the current owner Dave Morrell took over the business, Graham Whitewick ran Yorkshire Coast Auctions based in Scarborough. Initially set up by Bill Fryer in 1998, auctions were held bi-monthly at the Sun Inn on Dean Road later moving to the West Riding Hotel on Castle Road. Sadly, due to ill health, Bill was unable to continue and Graham took over in early 2004.
As the auction developed a larger sale room was required and Graham moved the sale day to the Alexandra Bowling Club in Scarborough. Here it remained until very recently, due to COVID restrictions a larger space was needed to allow social distancing on the day of the sale. After comparing several venues, Graham decided to move the sale to Scarborough Rugby Club on Scalby Road.
The venue offers a range of facilities, large rooms, ample (free) parking, a cafe/restaurant and although on the outskirts of Scarborough it is close enough to the town centre to visit should you have spare time between viewing lots and attending the auction itself. It is also served by a regular bus service to and from the train station.
Sadly in October 2021 due to his health deteriorating, Graham decided that the October auction would be the last auction he would run.
Dave Morrell, who had been attending the auctions regularly since early 2000 felt it would be a great shame if these were to end. Graham had put a lot of time and effort into building the business up and felt that it could be developed further by utilising the internet to attract further interest. He felt a 're-branding' was needed to develop its own identity but also to remain close to the customer base that Graham had built up.
Over the years the auctions have received interest from buyers and vendors from all over the world, however, our strongest following are from the North East of England.
We are keen to extend this to include the rest of Yorkshire as that is where our roots are! So we decided the name would be changed to 'Yorkshire Stamp Auctions' and that is where we are today.
Graham continues to remain involved behind the scenes and on the day itself!

Also heavily involved in the ''Backroom'' as well as on the day of the auction is Shaun who is currently developing the website as well as the business operating model.
